ABCA 50th Anniversary Rocky Sale

ABCA 50th Anniversary Rocky Sale

October 12, 2011 1 By Amanda

The Bimbadeen team visited Rockhampton this week for the 2011 ABCA Sale.  It was great to catch up with clients and fellow Brangus breeders there, to help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the formation of Australian Brangus Cattle Association.

The Burnham Youth award, instigated by Bruce and Barbara to encourage involvement by younger generations of Brangus breeders, was taken out this by Amy Drake of Namara Brangus.

Amy recieved a trophy and certificate to commemorate her win, plus a cheque and Brangus semen package to continue her Brangus ambitions. Congrats to Amy!

Bruce was honoured to be invited to officially open the sale, as an original member of the founding committee and past ABCA president.

In his address, Bruce gave a brief history of the association and called on ABCA members to continue the strong legacy created for them over the past five decades, and encouraged all breeders to get involved in the 2012 Brangus World Congress to be held in Rockhampton next year.

The Rocky sale was a strong one for most, with an average of over $6000 for the sale.  Congratulations to all vendors for a great lineup of Brangus.

The Welcome the World semen auction, supporting the World Brangus Congress next year with vendors donating semen packages to the event, saw us contribute both by being donors (Lot 8) and taking home a semen package (Lot 3 – Sankeys Revolution 860K donated by Castle Brangus).

We also came home with a new addition for the paddock – Bonox R505.

We are looking forward to getting him out and working soon – passing on his lovely temperament, great polled head and outstanding thickness and muscling attributes to his progeny.
